Our Kentucky Woods™ cake is rich with flavor. Made with fresh made caramel, maple, chocolate, brown sugar, bourbon and walnuts. Though for the more adventurous, you can top it off. Here are some suggestions.

To compliment a Kentucky Woods™ cake and to add a touch of alcohol, you can add straight bourbon to the top.  With the Kentucky Woods™ cake at room temperature place it on a dish (to hold the bourbon that runs off) and slowly pour up to 2 jiggers of bourbon on top of the cake, what runs off, allow to soak into the bottom. This will make it very rich with bourbon. Keep in mind this is for adults, since it adds alcohol back into the Kentucky Woods™ cake.

As well, you can warm each slice and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream softened with bourbon stirred in and then refrozen. Don't add to much bourbon as it will not refreeze, add about 1 jigger per quart.

Bourbon Sauce
You can melt in a sauce pan:

1 part butter
1/2 part water
1 part cane or beet sugar

Melt and constantly stir over simmering heat and when the sugar is no longer gritty and it is a very light caramel color then add 1 part bourbon, stir in. Lightly pour over the top.

Maple Sauce
You can melt in a sauce pan:

1 part butter
1/2 part water
1 part maple syrup

Constantly stir over simmering heat and when the sugar is no longer gritty and it is a very light caramel color lightly pour over the top of the Kentucky Woods™ cake.

Enjoy!
